The objective of Royal Oaks Hospital is to properly assess and place individuals in the least restrictive and most cost effective environment appropriate for their needs and acuity. Program components are very flexible, and as an individual’s progress changes, transition may be made from one level of care to the next. Most individuals will first complete a multi-structured assessment phase which includes:

• medical examination
• laboratory work
• psychiatric evaluation
• psychological testing
• psycho-social history and evaluation

Using the data gathered, the treatment team develops and implements an individualized treatment plan to specifically address the patient’s needs. Whenever possible, family participation is strongly encouraged and we have weekly family education programs available at the hospital.
